For 125 years, The Perth Mint has been part of the Western Australian story. We have supported the gold industry from the goldrush days of the late 1800s, produced currency for Australia and the British Empire and now operate a global precious metals business and popular tourism enterprise. Our story continues to evolve.

Gold through time

Gold has driven Australia’s prosperity since the first goldrushes in eastern states in the mid-1800s. Since the early 1900s, WA has produced the bulk of Australian gold and most of it has been refined at The Perth Mint.

Our numismatic and bullion coin programs drove the renaissance of The Perth Mint in the late 1980s and now our extensive range of gold, silver and platinum coins are sought after by collectors around the globe.
